Jaffin Room Policy

The Jaffin Room is available to the community for informal, non-commercial activities. It may be used, free of cost, by individuals or small groups (not to exceed 15) engaged in cultural, intellectual, or civic pursuits. It is available on an equitable basis regardless of the beliefs or affiliations of the individuals or groups. Granting permission to use the Jaffin Room does not constitute an approval or endorsement by the Library, the Library Board of Trustees, or the Village of Scarsdale of any individual or group.

Fees for participation in or admission to these activities may not be charged and donations may not be solicited. The Jaffin Room may not be used for the sale, advertising, solicitation or promotion of commercial products or services immediately or at a future time.

Reservations for the Jaffin Room are accepted up to three months in advance, unless prior written approval has been granted by the Library Director, or designee. Limitations may be imposed on the frequency and duration of use. When not previously reserved, the Jaffin Room is available on a first come, first served basis. Activities must conclude 15 minutes before the Library’s scheduled closing, unless prior written approval has been granted by the Library Director, or designee.

Users of the Jaffin Room are responsible for its equipment and furnishings during the period of use. The Library, its employees, Trustees, and the Village of Scarsdale assume no responsibility for personal injury or damage to personal property. Damage and/or injury must be reported promptly to Library staff.

Smoking and the consumption of food and beverages are prohibited.
