Mission Statement
The mission of the Scarsdale Public Library is to serve the diverse cultural, professional, educational; and recreational needs of the community by:
- providing, in an organized and accessible manner, books, periodicals and related audio-visual materials;
- serving as a center for reliable information;
- serving as a repository of information and records of the past and gathering and making these materials accessible;
- providing opportunity and encouragement for children, young people, men and women to educate themselves continually;
- serving as the cultural center of the Village through programs offered by the Library and also those sponsored by appropriate local organizations;
- seeking to identify new community cultural interests and needs, providing appropriate programs of service to meet such interests and needs, and cooperating with other organizations, agencies and institutions which can provide programs and services to meet those needs.
In carrying out this mission, the Library will continue to cooperate with and complement the collections and services of the Scarsdale public schools as well as neighboring public libraries within the Westchester Library System.
