Registration InformationSome of our events require registration (these are noted in the Events Calendar). Space is limited and registration is required but limited to Scarsdale Library Cardholders only. First time registrants must do so in person with a Scarsdale library card and written proof of your child’s age (e.g. birth certificate, passport, immunization records.) Parents of children who have registered for past programs may call to register for current programs. Registration remains open until programs are filled. If you have registered your child for a program and find you cannot attend, please call the library so your spot can be made available to somebody else. Young Critics ClubThis popular program gives avid readers in grades 3 through 9 a chance to read books and get together once a month to discuss them. Grades 3 & 4 and Grades 5 & 6 meet one Monday a month at 7:00 pm, Grades 7, 8 & 9 meet once a month on Wednesdays at 7:00 pm. Space is limited and registration is required but limited to Scarsdale Library Cardholders only. Check the Calendar Each Young Critic receives a copy of the book each month to keep and books range from fantasy to historical fiction to mystery. Past titles include The Tarantula in My Purse and 172 Other Wild Pets, by Jean Craighead George, Sammy Keyes and the Hotel Thief, by Wendelin Van Draanen and Iqbal, by Francesco D'Adamo. Children's FilmsJoin us for videos suitable for all ages once a month at 4:00 pm. Selected films include well-known and beloved characters such as Clifford and Charlie Brown, and often feature a seasonal theme, these films are a perfect break for everyone. The films last from 30 to 45 minutes and there's no registration needed. Check the Calendar Mother Goose TimeMother Goose Time is a program for babies from birth to age 2 ½ with an adult caregiver. This language enrichment program uses rhymes, songs and stories with baby and caregiver to stimulate listening, learning, speaking and reading skills. Programs are offered on two levels: prewalkers and walkers. Space is limited and registration is required but limited to Scarsdale Library cardholders only. These weekly sessions are offered every month from September through May. The program for Prewalkers on Fridays at 9:30 am, focuses on short tickles, bounces and lap riding rhymes and songs that baby and parent can use at home. The program for Walkers, scheduled on Thursdays at 10:30 am uses slightly longer songs that stimulate baby's imagination and invite baby and caregiver to use the whole body as they stretch high, jump and walk around together in a circle. Pre-School Story TimesStory Time is offered once a week for children ages 3 1/2 to 5. No registration is required for this program that runs from September through May. This half-hour of stories focuses on longer picture books, flannel board stories, poetry and movement. This program is offered every Tuesday afternoon at 4:00 pm. Check the Calendar Toddler TimeToddler Time is a program of stories, music and movement for 2 ½ to 3 ½ with an adult caregiver. This half-hour program requires registration and is offered as a weekly series every month from September through May. Space is limited and registration is required but limited to Scarsdale Library cardholders only. Longer and more interactive than Mother Goose Time, this program uses picture books, flannel board stories, puppets and music to encourage the enjoyment of books, rhymes and songs for the older toddler. This program is offered on Monday mornings at 10:30 am. Check the Calendar Kiddie KabaretNancie Schnur's program uses puppets and songs, both traditional and original, to bring music and fun to toddlers ages 1 ½ to 3 ½ and their caregivers. Nancie appears once a month at the library on a Tuesday or a Wednesday at 10:30 am. Space is limited and registration is required but limited to Scarsdale Library cardholders only. A favorite at the library for years, Nancie knows how to keep toddlers singing and dancing along with the fun! Check the Calendar
