2025 SPL Summer Reading for Teens

For teens of all ages, rising into Grades 6 through 12: It’s almost that time of year all students are waiting for: summer!

With that comes the annual Summer Reading Challenge–this year’s theme is “Color Our World.”

Scarsdale teens in rising grades 6-12 can register beginning on June 1, 2025, by downloading the free app, Beanstack, on their phone or tablet. This will allow them to play, beginning on June 22, a virtual bingo game (Teenstack!) where they can win prizes by reading books and completing activities that allow them to earn badges for bingo prizes and tickets to enter one or more end-of-summer grand prize drawings.

The 2025 Teen Summer Reading Challenge runs from June 22 to August 30–with pre-registration opening on June 1–and is generously sponsored by the Friends of the Scarsdale Library (FOSL). We hope students will take advantage of this exciting opportunity to win prizes while completing teacher-assigned summer reading as well as leisure reading.

Participants will be challenged to complete various reading activities to earn badges in Beanstack.

  1. The first bingo prize is a $20 gift card for completing five badges in a row, column, or diagonal. Prizes left unclaimed after September 30 will be forfeit.
  2. The blackout bingo prize is a brand new book of your choice for completing all 25 badges. Prizes left unclaimed after September 30 will be forfeit.
  3. For the grand prize drawings, enter your ticket(s) earned from each completed badge into any of several drawings for $100 gift cards. Drawings will be completed by library staff on September 2, 2025. Prizes left unclaimed after September 30 will be forfeit.
