Welcome to Scarsdale's Summer Reading Program! Not just for kids, summer reading is a wonderful opportunity for self-discovery and delight. Join us in reading a book (or ten) and sharing some of your favorite moments along the way. Keep cool, uncover something new, and get the chance to win some prizes along the way!
Here's how adult summer reading will work. We'll be collecting short reviews of books that you read from Sunday, June 22nd to Saturday, August 9th. Staff here at the library have already picked out some books that are special to them, and, throughout the summer, we will feature books that you loved. Each review you submit is equivalent to one raffle ticket.
At the end of the program, three winners will be drawn to each win a Sip & Snacks prize basket!
Preregistration to participate starts on Sunday, June 1st, and you are welcome to signup at any point during the summer reading program. To get started, please visit and fill out our registration form HERE. It will ask for your name and email address and explain some of the rules for obtaining prizes. After registering, all participants are welcome to stop by the Reference Desk to choose from among a number of buttons created with enthusiasm and (idiosyncratically variable) skill by our librarians to celebrate summer reading.
Beginning June 22nd share your thoughts on books you have read or listened to. You can do so by filling out a form online which will be accessible HERE starting on Sunday, June 22 or by picking up a paper form available at the Reference Desk and returning it with your review and contact information. Each review, either digital or paper, will get you one raffle ticket for our prize drawing.
There are also other ways to earn raffle tickets along the way. We have three special summer programs specifically in honor of the summer reading program. If you are interested in attending any of our Puzzle Breakfast, our Paint Night, or our Trivia Night, please register for these events separately.
