MAKE IT WITH ME… SALT DOUGH DINO FOSSILS

Since we can’t visit some of our favorite museums right now, Miss Sarah is teaching you how to make your own artifacts to display at home! Follow along with the video to Make It With Me… Salt Dough Dinosaur Fossils!

KIDS CRAFTS WITH KAREN-SHARK WEEK

Happy Shark Week!

This week is dedicated to celebrating and learning all about sharks. So I thought a party hat was in order.

Supplies: paper plate. ruler, pencil, template, markers or colored pencils, scissors and glue.

KIDS CRAFTS WITH KAREN- LION PUPPET

This lion puppet is ready to roar!!! He’s the king of the jungle after all.

What you need: Orange paper 8 1/2-11, google eyes, markers, scissors and a glue stick

Print out the template on orange paper unless you would like to color the mane, paws and ears, then use white paper. Cut them out and color.

STORYTIME IN YOUR TIME – EPISODE 1

All of the Children’s Librarians miss our storytime kids and families! Miss Karen, Miss Aisha, Miss Eileen, and Miss Sarah put together this virtual storytime for you to do whenever you want – in your own time!

Sing & read along with us while we’re busy preparing for your new library to open! A new episode of Storytime in Your Time will be released every other Friday.

Make it with Me… SLIME!

Who doesn’t love slime?! Well… maybe your parents. But if you tell them that there’s science at the core of creating slime they might let you go for it. This video will prepare you for the basics of slime making.

KIDS CRAFTS WITH KAREN- BUTTERFLIES

Butterflies are out in abundance this time of year. We see them in the garden or soaring through the air. Let’s make one of our own.

You will need: 3 colors of tissue paper, scissors, 1 pipe cleaner, a ruler and a pencil.

Choose three colors and lay them flat one on top of the other. Measure 5 inches from the side and the top to make a square and cut it out.

Fold about a half inch and again and again like an accordion as shown. Then fold in half and cut a round corner.

KIDS CRAFTS WITH KAREN-POP-UP PALS

Hello Crafters! This week we will make some fun pop-ups-a bear, mouse and bunny.

You will need: print out 2 copies of template, markers or coloring pencils, scissors, glue.

Color and cut out the template pattern.

Fold it accordion style, back and forth on the lines below the animal.

Glue only the animals body and the cup at the bottom together leaving the folded parts loose.

KIDS CRAFTS WITH KAREN- PUFFY WREATH

Let’s decorate! Wreaths are a great decoration for your door or for anywhere you would like to hang some color.

You will need: 1 paper plate, tissue paper-various colors of your choice, scissors, single hole punch a

nd tape.

Cut out the center of your plate. Punch holes in the circle as shown. The more holes you punch the fluffier your wreath will be. (If you don’t have a hole punch, please ask a grownup for help punching holes with a scissor or pencil. Be careful!)

KIDS CRAFTS-APPLE SURPRISE!

Somebody has made a home in an apple. I wonder if you can guess who?

You will need: a printout of the template, paper towel roll, 2 red cupcake liners or white cupcake liners and red paint, white paper, markers, scissors and a glue stick.

Cut the paper towel roll into thirds, or to the height you would like your apple to be. Place it on the white paper and glue it down. Roll the paper around the paper towel roll piece and then glue it down again to seal it.

KIDS CRAFTS WITH KAREN-BLAST BACK TO SCHOOL

If you are distance learning, or hybrid schooling chances are you will need a pencil.  So why not make it fun!

This pencil topper rocket will help you blast back to school in style!

You will need: a printout of the template, markers, scissors, glue stick and a pencil.

Print the template, color and cut out two rockets. Glue around the edges leaving the center open for the pencil to pop in.
