Join Marcus Renna in the Scott Room for a screening and discussion of the 1959 drama "The Story on Page One," written and directed by Clifford Odets and starring Rita Hayworth, Anthony Franciosa, and Gig Young.

Young Los Angeles lawyer Victor Santini (Franciosa) is hired to defend Josephine "Jo" Morris (Hayworth), who is accused of conspiring with Larry Ellis (Young) to murder her husband Mike Morris, a police detective. In flashbacks, we see the Morris' marriage as loveless and dull. When Jo meets Ellis, they see each other regularly for companionship and company. Eventually Mike discovers the two and pulls out his service revolver before dying in the confused struggle. Both Jo and Ellis are charged with first-degree murder. At the trial, Santini skillfully attempts to erode the prosecution's case.

A tough and insightful courtroom drama.
