Local History Librarian Dan Glauber will present his research on the history of baseball in Scarsdale. Did you know baseball games were being played in Arthur Manor as early as 1902 by the Scarsdale Athletic Club? The first world series was played in 1903 between the Boston Americans and the Pittsburgh Pirates, but baseball already had a long history of grassroots play, having evolved out English countryside games like Rounders. We'll take a look at the history of baseball and then dive into the local history of the sport in Scarsdale.
