Program Description

Event Details

English teacher and former college admissions officer Amy Estersohn will talk to families about the purpose of a college admissions essay and will provide criteria for successful and effective college essays.  Amy has over a decade of experience evaluating college essays at a highly selective college and helping students discover their voices in writing.

Amy will provide step-by-step processes for writing specific, sincere, and self-focused essays that students can use months or hours before an admissions deadline.

Registrants will receive emails containing Zoom credentials as well as reference materials for the interactive portions of the program prior to the event.

Amy Estersohn is a Scarsdale High School alumna and a graduate of the University of Chicago, where she worked in her alma mater's undergraduate admissions office.  During her time at UChicago, the applicant pool tripled and the acceptance rate fell into the single digits. She had an opportunity to read over 4,000 college applications from students in 45 states, six countries, and three U.S. territories.
