How familiar are you with the redistricting process?

Do you know what your districts' maps look like?

Do your maps represent your locale's communities of interest?

How can YOU participate to ensure fair mapping?

Why it matters

Political and racial gerrymandering distorts and undermines representative democracy by allowing officials to select their voters rather than voters to elect their officials.  When done for purposes of racial discrimination or to ensure the dominance of one political party, gerrymandering runs counter to equal voting rights for all eligible voters and undermines representative democracy.

Join us for a presentation by Alissa Baum, President of the League of Women Voters of Scarsdale to learn more about redistricting and fair mapping in Westchester County and New York State.

Congressional districts and government legislative bodies should be apportioned substantially on population.  The League of Women Voters opposes partisan and racial gerrymandering that strips rights away from voters.  The League of Women Voters of Westchester is a nonpartisan organization whose purpose is to promote informed and active participation in government.  The League neither supports nor opposes candidates or political parties.

You will receive an email with the Zoom link approximately one hour before the event.
