Welcome to Scarsdale's Summer Reading Program! Not just for kids, summer reading is a wonderful opportunity for self-discovery and delight. Come join us in reading a book (or ten) and sharing some of your favorite moments along the way. Keep cool, uncover something new, and get the chance to win some prizes along the way!
Here's how adult summer reading will work. We'll be collecting short reviews of books that you read from Tuesday, June 20 to Saturday, August 19. Staff here at the library have already picked out some books that are special to them, and, throughout the summer, we will feature books that you loved. Each review you submit is equivalent to one raffle ticket.
At the end of the program, three winners will be drawn to each win a basket of (moderately) fabulous prizes!
Preregistration to participate starts on Monday, June 12, and you are welcome to signup at any point during the summer reading program. To get started, please visit and fill out our registration form HERE. It will ask for your name and email address and explain some of the rules for obtaining prizes. After registering, all participants are welcome to stop by the Reference Desk to choose from among a number of buttons painstakingly created by our librarians to celebrate summer reading.
Once you read or listen to a book, send us a review. You can do so either by filling out a form HERE or by picking up a paper form available at the Reference Desk and returning it with your review and contact information. Each review, either digital or paper, will get you one raffle ticket for our prize drawing.
Need some inspiration for books to read this summer? Our staff have made a list of dozens of books that are special to them. From memoir to fantasy, literary classics to mystery, there is something for everyone on our list HERE.
There are also other ways to earn raffle tickets along the way. We have two special summer programs specifically in honor of the summer reading program. If you are interested in attending either our movie night on Thursday, July 13 featuring Pee-wee's Big Adventure or our trivia night on Thursday, August 17, please register for these events separately.

You may submit as many reviews as you like. A staff member will read each review and discard excessively short or inappropriate ones. We may share your reviews on social media if they are particularly insightful or creative. Winners will be contacted directly. If we are unable to reach you or you fail to respond after five (5) days, another winner will be selected. All prizes must be picked up in person from the library. We are unable to mail prizes.
