Understanding College Athletic Recruiting & the College Application Process

Sports will now once again become an important factor in college admissions, reclaiming the prominence they had before the Covid shutdown. With high schools and Colleges reinstating their Varsity Sports programs and schedules, top colleges will be looking to recruit DIII and DI athletes. From football and basketball to swimming, baseball, softball, and more, there are a number of sports in which student athletes can be recruited to play at the next level, and this can be a significant factor influencing a student’s admissions process. For this reason, it is important for students and families to understand the basics of the athletic recruiting process.

Please join Gateway Admissions experts Tom Baker, renowned college athletic consultant, and Diana Jones, preeminent college admissions consultant, to have your questions answered about the college application process for athletes seeking to continue their career at the collegiate level.

We will address areas such as:

● The timeline for the Scholar-Athlete

● Athletic recruiting ins and outs

● Knowing yourself as an athlete

● The admissions process and what colleges look for in candidates

● Creating the right list of schools to meet each student's profile

● Staying organized, time management, and the other key skills this process demands

This is an exciting time in a student’s life; hopefully, our overview will help your child put their best foot forward throughout this journey.
