Join us for an afternoon discussion with three novelists writing in different genres and with different journeys to publication. Gabi Coatsworth’s debut novel, A Beginner’s Guide to Starting Over, was published this year by hybrid publisher Atmosphere Press. Libby Waterford, who writes entertaining romance novels (the Never a Bride series and the Sawyer’s Cove series, among others), has self-published over a dozen titles and has a devoted following. Bette Bono has written two historical time-travel mystery novels, The Better Angels and Fear Itself, and a book of short stories with indie publisher, All Things That Matter Press.

Gabi Coatsworth  is an award-winning British-born author and blogger, who has spent half her life living in the United States. Her memoir, Love’s Journey Home, was published by Atmosphere Press in May 2022, and won first place in the Connecticut Press Club Awards. Her well-received debut novel, A Beginner’s Guide to Starting Over, was published by Atmosphere Press in April 2023. She runs several groups for writers in Connecticut, and if she’s not reading, writing or traveling, she’ll be in her flower garden, wondering whether to weed, or relaxing with a book and a cup of strong English tea.

Libby Waterford is obsessed with her pollinator garden, DIY fermentation, and writing swoony first kisses and hopeful happily-ever-afters. Her steamy contemporary romances mix witty banter and all the feels with a solid dollop of good old-fashioned sexual tension. Libby wrangles her two ever-growing sons and a husband in Fairfield County, Connecticut. The former President of the Connecticut Chapter of Romance Writers of America®, Libby is also an instructor at the Westport Writers’ Workshop, where she teaches classes on romance and genre fiction. She has participated in National Novel Writing Month every year since 2008 and is a seven-time “winner.”

Bette Bono is the author of the historical fiction/time travel novels, The Better Angels and Fear Itself. The series follows the adventures of sixty-something Aggie May as she joins the senior time travelers of the American Association of Remarkable Persons (“the other AARP”), to solve mysteries in the past. Bette is also the author of two short story collections, Neighbors & Other Stories and The Second Chance Shop & Other Stories (due out soon). She’s worked as a writer, public school teacher, teachers’ union steward, Harvard-trained lawyer, and political analyst. She lives in Connecticut with her family.
