On display in the Local History Center for the month of July, 2023, this exhibit highlights the history of Independence Day celebrations in Scarsdale. In the early 20th century, celebrations were limited to private parties. Public celebrations began in 1915, sometimes held by the Village itself, but often held by neighborhood associations. Fireworks displays were sometimes held at Butler Field. Soon after the pool complex opened in 1969, the Village began holding fireworks displays there, and continues to hold them there to this day.
