Practice Iyengar Yoga for ---Healthy Bones, Maintaining bone density and strengthening it when it lessens as in osteopenia and osteoporosis as we age. One hallmark of Iyengar Yoga is beginning with the practice of standing poses to build strength. We learn to grip muscles to bones to nourish and feed the bones. This class is good for those folks with osteopenia and osteoporosis who will learn modifications of basic poses. Though we focus on one "goal" many benefits happen i.e :Your skeletal alignment /posture will improve with this practice adding to increased room for breath and circulation. Taught with an open heart and open mind by long time experienced certified Iyengar Yoga Teacher Nancy Kardon. She is certified with the International Association of Yoga Therapists and has been teaching at Iyengar Yoga Scarsdale and at other schools and venues in Westchester County since 1995.
If possible: Set up in a quiet space with light and no window directly behind you. Place a laptop on a low stool 13 feet from your mat. Handy props: yoga mat, a chair, yoga belt or strap ,2-3 firm blankets, a wall or table to stand in front of.
