Reunion is a key word for us, Ines Rodrigues and Plinio Ribeiro Jr, curators of the Salon, respectively in New York and Paris. We live in different countries and, twice a year, we gather friends in different continents to read and talk, exercising our common passion for literature and art. We are both journalists and writers. On April 23rd, let’s all celebrate our reunions, and many other types of gatherings: celebrations, community meetings, talks. They all connect people and ideas. This Salon will start with our brief joined presentation. It will be a rare opportunity where we’ll read a text that we wrote together especially for this Salon, celebrating more than twenty years of a partnership built over dozens of trips and reunions. We are also honored to have FOUR writers reading this time. Below are the participants from NEW YORK:

Shelly Bhoil, Indian poet who will read from her poetry collections.

Juliana Kase, Brazilian-Japanese visual artist. She will present a short movie, "Yellow Woman".

Nan Mutnick, for many years has been translating her two passions into jobs: yoga and writing. If you think these two activities are not related, think twice. Nan has taught successful classes where yoga becomes a preparation and inspiration for great writing. She is an active yoga instructor (Bronxville Adult School) and has also published short stories at Pulse Voices  and  Kveller. She was a student at the Writing Institute at Sarah Lawrence College for many years, taking classes and participated in many reading events. Mutnick has published stories in two collections related to Read650: “What We Ate: True Stories of Love, Loss, and Lupini Beans” and “What We Wore: True Stories of Power, Promises, and Polyester.”

Stephanie Newman, a clinical psychologist/psychoanalyst, adjunct faculty member at Columbia
University, is the author of “Madmen on the Couch”, a non-fiction book about the
psychopathology of daily life. Her writing has appeared in outlets such as: The Washington
Post,  WSJ.com, Scarymommy.com, YourTeen for Parents, and psychologytoday.com.
Newman will read from her book “Barbarians at the PTA”, which was included on Bustle.com's
most anticipated book list prior to its release.  The novel, which has been described as
"Desperate Housewives" meets "Mean Girls" is about a mother and daughter who find
themselves victims of bullies after moving to the wealthy suburbs of New York City. The book
addresses the very timely topics of cliques, snobs, exclusion, eating disorders, and parenting as

Felipe Ribeiro, Writer from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, reading his stories in Portuguese and English.
