Understanding Alzheimer's and Dementia

  Alzheimer’s is not normal aging; it’s a disease of the brain that causes problems with memory, thinking and behavior. Join us to learn about: The impact of Alzheimer’s, the difference between Alzheimer’s and dementia, Alzheimer’s disease stages and risk factors, current research, treatments available to address some symptoms and Alzheimer’s Association resources.

10 Warning Signs:

Early diagnosis gives people with Alzheimer’s disease the chance to make key decisions about treatment, care and planning and the power to make choices about their own health and future. This program increases awareness of the benefits of early Alzheimer’s detection, and provides information about memory loss and normal aging, Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia. Also learn about the risk factors,10 warning signs, the diagnostic process and resources to help.

Eva Roszkowski, Community Engagement Manager at the Alzheimer’s Association and Advisor to Young Professionals Alzheimer's Council, identifies opportunities for community education and outreach in Westchester.

Her father was diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimer’s at the age of 56 and Eva is determined to spread awareness about the impact of this disease, hoping that a cure will be found in her lifetime.

Eva’s professional experience lies within the education and nonprofit management fields. Through the years Eva has held roles in both public universities and private educational organizations, providing student and family support, and managing all administrative and Human Resource aspects of several nonprofit programs. Her work in nonprofit programming also involved the development of career readiness programs for marginalized youth.

Eva has a Master of Science degree in Organizational Change Management from The New School, and holds a B.A. in History from Hunter College of the City University of New York. She is a tea aficionado and lives in Connecticut with her partner and their adorable pit mix, Delphi
